When creating a squashfs image by adding a directory to the image mksquashfs would normally insert the contents of the directory into the image. There was also a -keep-as-directory option which would insert the directory as a whole into the image, instead of just it's contents. In the 2.2_p2 revision the whole directory is always inserted into the image. Please try version 3.0 and see if this is resolved.
Well, there's 3 newer versions of squashfs-tools in the tree and no response from the bug poster. Marking NEEDINFO, but assuming that this is FIXED.
