Today I unmerged esound, because I figured out, that I never use it and therefore I don't need it. After that during update while updating gdk-pixbuf I got the compilation error. Libtool wants /usr/lib/libesd.la to proceed :). gdk-pixbuf doesn't have esound as a dependency. It's very strange, that it somehow needs esound... :) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. unmerge esound (I think, that if it's not merged at all, than you need step 0: emerge esound :)) 2. emerge gdk-pixbuf ( if version matters: gdk-pixbuf-0.22.0-r3 ) Actual Results: I got the following error during compile: /bin/sh ../libtool --mode=link i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -march=pentium4 -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -o libgnomecanvaspixbuf.la -rpath /usr/lib -version-info 1:0:0 -rdynamic -L/usr/lib -L/usr/X11R6/lib -lgnomeui -lart_lgpl -lgdk_imlib -lSM -lICE -lgtk -lgdk -lgmodule -ldl -lXi -lXext -lX11 -lgnome -lgnomesupport -lesd -lasound -laudiofile -lm -ldb1 -lglib gnome-canvas-pixbuf.lo grep: /usr/lib/libesd.la: No such file or directory sed: can't read /usr/lib/libesd.la: No such file or directory libtool: link: `/usr/lib/libesd.la' is not a valid libtool archive make[3]: *** [libgnomecanvaspixbuf.la] Error 1 make[3]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs.... Expected Results: It should compile without errors. Hm-m-m, do I have to write such an obvious thing in "Expected Results" :))). Oops! Please, sorry, that was my fault. I have a gnome-libs (completely forgotten about it) that depends on esound, and gdk-pixbuf depends on gnome libs. Please, close this bug. It's not bug :).
