did an emerge -p for postfix qmail exim and all require ssmtp which is 
currently blocked. Sysstem is 1.4-rc1

Was blocked yesterday as well. Can't build the mail system and not sure logging 
is working properly until one is installed.

they dont require ssmtp.

ssmtp is providing virtual/mta which the other
mta's dont want to be there when they install.

the mta's can overwrite the sendmail symlink,
which is mostly why it's done like this.

just emerge unmerge ssmtp

then you can emerge whatever MTA you want.
