Bug 10774 – Opera 6.1 no longer needs Lesstif for Java to Work

Hmm where to start.... 

With Opera 6.03 and lowere lesstif fixed issues with Opera not executing java applets.  

Now with Opera 6.1 lesstif is actually a blocker.  I emerged the new version of Opera a few days ago and I was having some issues getting Java working.  The java applet would load but stay a dark gray box.  Nothing would show.  I guessed that since the new version of Opera points at java/bin I thought maybe lesstif was no longer needed.  Sure enough, I unmerged lesstif and java applets load normally.

Did you have both openmotif and lesstif installed at the same time?

No I did not.  For some reason OpenMotif was causing Mozilla to crash when 
trying to visit Java sites so I removed it.  I removed it way before installing 
Opera 6.03 and lesstif.  When I upgraded to Opera 6.1 I could open Java sites 
but I had gray boxes in the place where the java applets should have been.  
Figuring it might be lesstif, I removed it and everything started working again.

I actually do not have either motif installed at the moment.

opera needs lesstif, as long as you can't reproduce that...
