If would be really better if the Debian maintainer submitted those patches upstream...
remind releases new versions about once in three years. As it is visible from the logs, he did submit them to upstream. Since some of these bugs really can break things and make certain features unusable, I think it'd be good to include them temporarily, until new version release.
Patches are applied in version 03.00.23-r2.
