Description Mathieu Malaterre 2005-09-27 11:15:55 UTC
I cannot install maildrop package. I lead to the following errors:

checking for FAMOpen in -lfam... yes
checking for fam.h... (cached) no
configure: WARNING: The development header files and libraries for fam,
configure: WARNING: the File Alteration Monitor, are not installed.
configure: WARNING: You appear to have the FAM runtime libraries installed,
configure: WARNING: so you need to simply install the additional development
configure: WARNING: package for your operating system.
configure: error: FAM development libraries not found.
configure: error: /bin/sh './configure' failed for maildir

I believe the dependencies should be updated to also dev-tcltk/expect (Expect is
used for changing passwords in webmail.)

As a side note, installing also lead to a bunch of error on stderr:
./configure: line 3387: s%\\%/%g: No such file or directory

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

You neglected to post emerge --info output as instructed to when filing the bug.

The fam problem has been fixed in maildrop-1.8.1-r2 (~arched)

Cheers,
Ferdy
Comment 5 Mathieu Malaterre 2005-09-27 12:28:41 UTC
# echo "mail-filter/maildrop" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
# emerge --pretend maildrop

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild N ] mail-filter/maildrop-1.8.1-r2
# emerge maildrop
...
configure: WARNING: The development header files and libraries for fam,
configure: WARNING: the File Alteration Monitor, are not installed.
configure: WARNING: You appear to have the FAM runtime libraries installed,
configure: WARNING: so you need to simply install the additional development
configure: WARNING: package for your operating system.
configure: error: FAM development libraries not found.
configure: error: /bin/sh './configure' failed for maildir

Comment 7 Mathieu Malaterre 2005-09-27 12:36:40 UTC
Ok and the solution was:

# echo "app-admin/fam" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
# emerge --update fam
(I had 2.7.0-r2 but 2.7.0-r4 is available).
# emerge maildrop
-> everything goes well

The problem was fixed in fam 2.7.0-r4

You can close the bug safely. Thanks for your time.
