Description Alexander Huemer 2005-09-23 14:09:19 UTC
the last bug report i found for this is 1 1/2 years old, so i try again
installation (emerging) of both ccc and cxx work with no errors
after each installation i am told to run a ebuild config command
these commands fail with similar errors
exact output of ebuild config command:

Warning: unknown distribution
Gentoo Base System version 1.12.0_pre8
Using /usr/lib/gcc/alpha-unknown-linux-gnu/3.4.4 (4).

The Compaq C Compiler failed its installation verification
procedure. Please submit a problem report to The University of New
Hampshire (UNH). UNH, in partnership with Compaq, is developing an
innovative support network for Alpha Linux developers. UNH supports a
web site and forums for Alpha Linux developers to exchange information
and ask questions. To report problems experienced with Compaq C for
Linux Alpha and its components, use the UNH website:

       http://www.iol.unh.edu/linux/alpha/development

UNH has a direct connection to Compaq's compiler and tools development
organization for fast resolution of identified technical problems.
You may not receive a personal reply to your query, but we appreciate
your input on the product.

When submitting your problem, please include the following:

o All output generated by this installation procedure
o The name and version of your Linux distribution
o The name of the compiler RPM kit
o The command you used to install the kit
o The version of GCC installed on your system

comp.config contains:

If you can correct the problem, you can rerun this script manually
by entering a command in the following format:

    create-comp-config.sh ccc-version [gcc-path]

The current invocation of create-comp-config.sh was:

/usr/lib/compaq/ccc-6.5.9.001-6/alpha-linux/bin/create-comp-config.sh ccc-6.5.9.
001-6 /usr/lib/gcc/alpha-unknown-linux-gnu/3.4.4

 * ccc has been configured, you can now use it as usual.

i do not know what to do against that
since these are platform optimized compilers i would really be interessted in
comparing the results to them of gcc
i am sure anybody here can fix this
thanks in advance for your help

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge ccc
2. run the ebuild config command that emerge tells you
3.
Actual Results:
non-working compilers

Expected Results:
the ebuild config should have fixed some sysmlinks and stuff like that (IMO) but
cannor do so because of wrong understood information determined by the script
(IMO)

@alpha - is this still supported? Better to nuke the thing otherwise.
Comment 2 Raúl Porcel (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-12-27 11:53:24 UTC
This is unsupported, broken, and unfetchable.
