Using xfce-extra/terminal-0.2.2-r1 on my laptop with xfce4 on it terminal regularly freezes after using it for a while (under an hour). I have to run pkill terminal to get the program closed because it does not respond to any input any more. I updated to 0.3.0 and the problem is gone. betelgeuse@flybook /etc/conf.d $ emerge info Portage 2.0.51.22-r2 (default-linux/x86/2005.0, gcc-3.3.6, glibc-2.3.5-r1, 2.6.12-suspend2-r6 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.12-suspend2-r6 i686 Transmeta(tm) Crusoe(tm) Processor TM5800 Gentoo Base System version 1.12.0_pre8 distcc 2.18.3 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.5-r2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.12 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r10 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.18-r1 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.8.1-r1, 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O3 -march=i686 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -mpreferred-stack-boundary=2 -falign-functions=0 -falign-jumps=0 -falign-loops=0" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/init.d /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O3 -march=i686 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -mpreferred-stack-boundary=2 -falign-functions=0 -falign-jumps=0 -falign-loops=0" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks noauto noinfo sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS=" http://trumpetti.atm.tut.fi/gentoo http://lame.lut.fi/linux/gentoo " LANG="en_US.utf8" LC_ALL="en_US.utf8" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://192.168.150.1/portage/" USE="x86 X acpi alsa avi bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts bluetooth bzip2 bzlib crypt divx4linux eds emboss foomaticdb gif gpm gstreamer gtk2 ieee1394 imap jpeg junit kde kdeenablefinal libg++ libwww mad mmx mozilla mp3 mpeg ncurses network nptl ogg oggvorbis opengl pam pcmcia pdflib png pnp quicktime radeon readline real rtc ruby spell ssl symlink tcpd truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts unicode usb userlocales vorbis wifi xml xml2 xmms xv xvid zlib userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, MAKEOPTS
terminal-0.2.4 has been marked stable so this bug is obsolete. I would just hope that the xfce team would read their bugs when marking things stable, but of course they should not be marking things stable without permissions from the x86 team nowadays.
