User bug report by email from eero@jlug.fi (reworded & translated by myself, not direct quotation): Chapter doesn't provide enough information for finding information about supported languages beforehand and information on finding language codes from ebuild is insufficient and confusing. The chapter also fails to tell that some versions of oo package do not support certain languages whereas oo-bin might. The mail gives example of oo-1.1.5 w/o Finnish support vs. oo-bin-1.9 w/ Finnish support (which I find a bit odd, because website oo.org claims full Finnish support for oo-1.1.5, bug with our packaging perhaps?) Anyways, I think that chapter needs a full rewrite. Opinions?
I'm going to fix #106445 since the ebuild's ewarn is now updated... Anyone else want to re-write? Flammie? :p
(In reply to comment #1) > I'm going to fix #106445 since the ebuild's ewarn is now updated... > > Anyone else want to re-write? Flammie? :p I can do a rewrite for this chapter (and few other related places). Here's what I had in mind, if I don't receive feedback for it by tomorrow-ish, I'll commit it: * describe LINGUAS in environment variables section (since it applies to KDE, oo.o, all gettext packages, and possibly others as use expanded thingie AFAIK?) * remove duplicated LINGUAS examples from KDE and oo.o. * remove thing about looking from ebuild, since it seems to provide bogus information and language codes themselves are standard anyway * remove note about oo-bin, since they do install lang. packs now
Okay, I'll reassign my bug to you...since it's part of this fix.
