Description faz 2002-11-13 03:40:18 UTC
Hi,

I'd like to request the inclusion of the 64bit jiffies backup in the gentoo kernel of 1.4.
The HZ patch went in, causing the system time to rollover every 49 days with
uncertain effect on the system stability. Inclusion of the 64 bit jiffies backport will
solve this. Please refer to this forum discussion:

Oops, it's "backport", not "backup"
Comment 2 Brandon Low (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-11-16 12:45:30 UTC
hmm... somewhat doubtful, but I'll check into it before the next gentoo-sources.
current gentoo-sources it is recommended to use 100 jiffies any way because of
clock issues, not until the next one will the proper patch from RML be in.

the patch from here will be in the next testing sources.
