I attempt to emerge kdelibs-3.4.1-r1 and it fails every time.

Reproducible: Always

Please post some output of the compilation before the errors start happening, 
even the part on the forums is not very helpful.

I had solved the problem manually by linking : 
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.4 
to 
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.6 
 
Just to be sure : 
 
if i want to use fix_libtool_files.sh,

overwrites system libraries...
