Hi I got a request from user for two specific drivers that he would like to see on install CD. From his email looks like this will cover certain server system sold by Dell, so it is probably worth considering. I tried to search for bugs containing these drivers and did not found any. If this appears to be a duplicate I apologise. George (email follows. BTW, I already pointed out to him, that in his situation it is probably easier to chroot off existing linux and to read alt-install instructions). ----------------- RE: [gentoo-dev] 1.4 From: "Riyad Kalla" <rsk@u.arizona.edu> To: "'George Shapovalov'" <george@gentoo.org> Date: Tue, 12 Nov 2002 12:24:48 -0700 Yes there are two things I care dearly about on the new 1.4 install cd: The e1000 Intel driver: http://www.intel.com/support/network/adapter/1000/linux/e1000.htm The mpt LSI driver: ftp://ftp.lsil.com/HostAdapterDrivers/linux/Fusion-MPT/2.02/ Both of these pieces of hardware are default in PowerEdge servers from Dell, which we happen to have, and has kept me from putting Gentoo on it (it took me an entire afternoon to get it working and I finally gave up after I realized I still had a day of compiling infront of me, plus I had a deadline in 2 days that I needed to take care of). I would be SO greatful if you could forward this email onto the governing bodies that decide if drivers go in or not to the distrobution, it would be FANTASTIC if these two drivers could make it in. Best wishes and thank you, -Riyad
I'll double check I think these are both in -ac

George & Brandon, Thanks so much for taking care of this! I'm very excited for the 1.4 install disk! Best, -Riyad
get testing livecds at http://www.gentoo.org/dyn/experimental/livecd/ they should include e1000 already.
I believe this is all taken care of since we are 2.4.20 based now.
Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux". I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers, this is the only reasonable way to do this.
