OSSIM (www.ossim.net) is an interesting open source package for handling security informations on a network. Currently the only reliable way to install it is through .deb packages on a Debian distro. Can we really tolerate that ? :p Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
A Debian install guide is here: http://www.ossim.net/docs/INSTALL.Debian.html A first summary of problems to solve for ebuild-ing this thing: - make install mixes up files (some are in /usr/share/ossim, some in /usr/share/local - pgpgacl do not correctly work on gentoo - ntop and snort need to be patched for working with Ossim (sigh) - Apache on Gentoo has some problem in handling the perl modules of OSSIM - Documentation is badly missing in the original project itself.........
I'll take a stab at it if it's not too hard
It is still almost impossible to deploy ossim on Gentoo... as it is one of the most used packages for Security Information Management, it would be very important to work on this. It's beyond my ability though.

No progress here for one year, closing WONTFIX. Feel free to reopen with an ebuild.
I've started making new 0.9.9rc4 ebuild branch for x86. Work will be finished to the end of April. Need some testers for arches other then x86, huh : ) (x86 are also welcome) btw, here's complete 0.9.9rc3: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56914
