x11-apps/bitmap-0.99.0 manpage is installed in /usr/share/manm , as bitmap.man.gz . no known manual pager looks in that directory, or recognises that suffix.
This is done by the package itself instead of the ebuild. Please file a bug at https://bugs.freedesktop.org under product xorg and component modular build system and post the link here. This isn't the only package doing this: manm # ls bitmap.man.gz luit.man.gz xfs.man.gz iceauth.man.gz showrgb.man.gz xhost.man.gz
Most of these are already fixed in CVS. Take a look at the Makefile.am's in cvs.freedesktop.org/xorg/app/ and see whether they've got a variable dist_man1_MANS. If the number "1" is missing, then they're still wrong, but I expect they are all fixed. Please reopen if that isn't the case.
