i played with gdm session settings a bit.. British English or System Default (English) work fine, the date stuff. While slovenian language shows such date for any 'fail safe', 'gnome', 'default' setting. Even tried to delete .gnome* in my home dir. Still same. Just a question, I think i have Gentoo set to default english, while gnome is slovenian. Is that the problem?
Follow: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/utf-8.xml for setting up your system. Your emerge info shows LANG="sl_SI.UTF-8" which suggests your mostly set up. Got "nls" in your USE flags? Anyone (gnome team) got suggestions for non english locales?
I rebuild glibc with following setting, after reboot, gnome date is still the same. other locale specific stuff is fine. any ideas? synchronized miha # cat /etc/locales.build # This file names the list of locales to be built when glibc is installed. # The format is <locale>/<charmap>, where <locale> is a locale from the # /usr/share/i18n/locales directory, and <charmap> is name of one of the files # in /usr/share/i18n/charmaps/. spent whole day on this, doing what http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Create_an_UTF-8_enabled_system http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/utf-8.xml suggested. none really worked. all translations for slovenian language are fine, just date is messed up. have kernel NLS enabled, utf-8 default recompiled world with userlocales nfs and unicode. particually i reemerged gnome-panel again after all of it. still the same Portage 2.0.51.22-r2 (default-linux/x86/2005.1, gcc-3.3.6, glibc-2.3.5-r1, 2.6.12-gentoo-r10 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.12-gentoo-r10 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP Gentoo Base System version 1.6.13 ccache version 2.3 [enabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.5-r2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.12 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r10 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.18-r1 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.inode.at/" LANG="sl_SI.UTF-8" LC_ALL="sl_SI.UTF-8" LINGUAS="sl_SI.UTF-8" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 3dnow 3dnowext X alsa apm arts avi berkdb bitmap-fonts browserplugin cd cdr crypt cups divx4linux dvd dvdr eds emboss encode esd fam foomaticdb fortran gdbm gif gnome gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 imagemagick imlib ipv6 java jpeg kde libg++ libwww mad mikmod mmx mmxext motif mozilla mp3 mpeg ncurses nls nsplugin ogg oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl png postgres python qt quicktime readline sdl slang spell sse ssl tcpd tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts unicode userlocales vorbis win32codecs xml2 xmms xv xvid zlib linguas_sl_SI.UTF-8 userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LDFLAGS, MAKEOPTS
