what does "which gav" print out for you? Works fine for me.
davidov@music ~ $ which gav /usr/games/bin/gav I just tried reemerging gav. The same result. One more note: I am using 0.8.0 version of gav. Version 0.7.3 fails to compile with error messages: davidov@music ~ $ sudo emerge =gav-0.7.3 Calculating dependencies ...done! >>> emerge (1 of 1) games-arcade/gav-0.7.3 to / >>> md5 files ;-) gav-0.8.0.ebuild >>> md5 files ;-) gav-0.7.3.ebuild >>> md5 files ;-) files/digest-gav-0.7.3 >>> md5 files ;-) files/digest-gav-0.8.0 >>> md5 src_uri ;-) gav-0.7.3.tar.gz >>> md5 src_uri ;-) fabeach.tgz >>> md5 src_uri ;-) florindo.tgz >>> md5 src_uri ;-) inverted.tgz >>> md5 src_uri ;-) naive.tgz >>> md5 src_uri ;-) unnamed.tgz >>> md5 src_uri ;-) yisus.tgz >>> md5 src_uri ;-) yisus2.tgz >>> Unpacking source... >>> Unpacking gav-0.7.3.tar.gz to /var/tmp/portage/gav-0.7.3/work >>> Unpacking gav-0.7.3.tar.gz to /var/tmp/portage/gav-0.7.3/work/gav-0.7.3/themes >>> Unpacking fabeach.tgz to /var/tmp/portage/gav-0.7.3/work/gav-0.7.3/themes >>> Unpacking florindo.tgz to /var/tmp/portage/gav-0.7.3/work/gav-0.7.3/themes >>> Unpacking inverted.tgz to /var/tmp/portage/gav-0.7.3/work/gav-0.7.3/themes >>> Unpacking naive.tgz to /var/tmp/portage/gav-0.7.3/work/gav-0.7.3/themes >>> Unpacking unnamed.tgz to /var/tmp/portage/gav-0.7.3/work/gav-0.7.3/themes >>> Unpacking yisus.tgz to /var/tmp/portage/gav-0.7.3/work/gav-0.7.3/themes >>> Unpacking yisus2.tgz to /var/tmp/portage/gav-0.7.3/work/gav-0.7.3/themes >>> Source unpacked. !!! What? That's totally not the same error. The last comment you posted bailed out with no configure script found.
And why are you trying to use 0.7.3? Try it with 0.8.0.
0.8.0 worked for me on amd64 ...
(In reply to comment #3) > What? That's totally not the same error. The last comment you posted bailed > out with no configure script found. No. I am using version 0.8.0! The log was related to 0.7.3 but error about path is related to 0.8.0. Sorry for mixing bug reports.
works fine here. run it under strace and attach the output please.
Created attachment 68717 [details] strace gav 2> log_gav
this is a feature of gav ... it checks $PWD to see if a 'themes' dir exists ... if it does, it uses that ... if it doesnt, it falls back to /usr/share/games/gav/themes/ your strace verifies this behavior: open("themes", O_RDONLY|O_NONBLOCK|O_LARGEFILE|O_DIRECTORY) = 5
(In reply to comment #9) > this is a feature of gav ... > > it checks $PWD to see if a 'themes' dir exists ... if it does, it uses that ... > if it doesnt, it falls back to /usr/share/games/gav/themes/ > > your strace verifies this behavior: > open("themes", O_RDONLY|O_NONBLOCK|O_LARGEFILE|O_DIRECTORY) = 5 Thanks! Now I see. I have themes dir in my $HOME. Renaming of $HOME/themes to other name solves the problem.
