successful emerge of games-roguelike/nethack 3.4.3-r1 Feature request: nethack installs into /usr/games/bin, to run you have to be member of group "games" Can this be made a little more "single user friendly" for MacOS Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
I currently don't have qt installed, so it should wait for later.
Do *not* change any of the requirements of the game, lest you anger the games team. If a Mac user is unable to add themseloves to a group, they might need a little hand-holding, but that's it. Also, nethack does not require QT.
Chris, did I even give a slight hint to you that I considered changing the "requirements of the game"? And is there a reason why you assigned the bug to games now? Or is that an implicit message that you're going to fix the QT issue? Thanks.
I see nothing about any QT issue in this bug. I also never suggested that you said you were going to do anything. I was merely stating games team policy based on the user's request, which is something that cannot be fulfilled properly without more information. There are multiple requests in this bug, which is probably the source of the issue. The first, is for having KEYWORDS adjusted for Mac OS X. The second is to make modifications to the games team policy, which is why it is assigned to the games team. Please try to be a little less defensive. Thanks
I'd like to have my bug back, because AFAIK it is not uncommon to install with user games. Besides that, the bug is in all kinds meant for the ppc-macos team to keyword it. If you want to address the games issue, please create a new bug and let this one and several others depend on it. If you want to hyjack this bug, then do it right and reset all components to reflect non-OSX specific issues. However, in that case I'd still like to have a bug that addresses the issue this bug was meant for: getting the ppc-macos keyword. I'm sorry if I appear too defensive. I just don't understand the actions you take in this bug. I can't really see the point of taking a minor side issue in a bug a reason to hyjack it from the ppc-macos team. Besides that, why only this very bug, there are a few of them. Really, I'd very much would like you to create a separate bug to address the issue you want to address (which is far more general than this sole package), or just reuse it after the ppc-macos team is done with it. > I see nothing about any QT issue in this bug. see reply #2: > Also, nethack does not require QT. % grep qt nethack-3.4.3-r1.ebuild IUSE="X qt gnome" qt? Assigning back to ppc-macos.
My Preciousssssssss.... Thanks for giving the bug back. bad dirk (it doesn't compile with QT): gcc -O3 -pipe -I../include -c -o allmain.o allmain.c ../win/Qt/qt_win.cpp:108:22: error: malloc.h: No such file or directory (fixed) Talking about that file... are you familiar with its contents, Dirk? :) Got it running with X and QT, funny game. As ~ppc-macos in portage. Games herd, you are free to take this bug, ppc-macos team is done with it.
