Have tried installs using CD and net.  In both instances su and su - username
refuse passwd.  They  both  return "Permision Denied Sorry".  Systems refuses my 
 global password = dictionary word, this is ok.  Entered a mix but then when
switching   from root to user I am unable with above response.

Add the user to wheel group.
