Description Patrizio Bassi 2005-09-15 04:02:39 UTC
seems that's a little problem with php:
i have dev-lang/php 5 installed

during emerge -uDtp world i see

[nomerge ] dev-php/ioncube_loaders-2.4
[ebuild N ] dev-php/php-4.4.0
[ebuild N ] media-libs/libswf-0.99

but the ebuild has:
DEPEND="virtual/php......

what's wrong?

Current ioncube_loaders ebuild in portage is *not* compatible w/ dev-lang/php,
it inherits the old php-ext-base eclass, which depends on dev-php/php. Unmerge
it. Updated ebuild for the new php will be available later.
Comment 2 Patrizio Bassi 2005-09-15 04:25:17 UTC
ok.

the problem is i searched for a package list of "broken" or nt updated packages but i
couldn't find it nor others (like wordpress...i just saw a bug here)

as a user, i'm tempted to open a bug every problem i have.
but i'm sure that this will make a time waste for you, devs.

however, not reporting a problem may be stupid.

so..what should we do?

As said, unmerge it or stay with the old php ebuilds if you really need it. This
is currently not a priority, so it might take a while.

We have decided to drop Ioncube-Loaders for now, the versioning and architecture
caos make it impossible to maintain reliably in Portage. The actual ebuild will
remain in Portage until we delete it, along with the old-style PHP packages.
There will not be a updated Ioncube-Loader ebuild for dev-lang/php. For anyone
who needs it it's just a matter of downloading the appropriate package and
cp'ing a file to a directory.
Best regards, CHTEKK.
