I'm working on an ebuild for a new application, and it needs libmui that is bundled with GLUT. Also, it would be handy to have the GLUT manpages. This site here provides instructions to get libmui and the manpages from GLUT. http://www.linux.com/howtos/Nvidia-OpenGL-Configuration/instglut.shtml Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Portage 2.0.52-r1 (default-linux/x86/2005.1, gcc-3.4.4, glibc-2.3.5-r1, 2.6.13-gentoo i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.13-gentoo i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.73GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.12.0_pre8 distcc 2.18.3 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] ccache version 2.4 [enabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.5, 2.4.1-r1 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.13 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.20 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium-m -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/grass60/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/web2c /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium-m -pipe" DISTDIR="/home/portage-distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig buildpkg ccache confcache cvs digest distlocks sandbox sfperms userpriv" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" LANG="en_US.UTF-8" LINGUAS="en_US" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/home/portage-packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="" USE="x86 3dnow X Xaw3d a52 aac aalib acpi alsa apache2 apm arts audiofile avi berkdb bitmap-fonts bluetooth bmp bonobo bzip2 cairo cdda cddb cdf cdr cpms crypt cups curl daap dga directfb djbfft dri dts dvb dvd dvdr dxr3 dynagraph ecc effects elf emboss encode erandom esd exif extensions fam fbcon ffmpeg fits flac fltk font-server foomaticdb fortran fpx freetype gcj gd gdbm geos gif gimpprint glitz glx gnokii gnutls gphoto2 graphviz gstreamer gtkhtml guile hal hdf hdf5 howl hpn httpd i8x0 idea ieee1394 imagemagick imlib insecure-drivers insecure-savers ipv6 irda jack-tmpfs jasper java jbig john jpeg lcms ldap lesstif libcaa libcaca libg++ libwww lirc live lm_sensors logitech-mouse mad maildir mikmod mmap mmx mng mod motif mozcalendar mozsvg mp3 mpeg mpm-prefork multicall musicbrainz mysql nas ncurses neXt netboot netcdf network new-login nfs nptl nsplugin objc offensive ofx ogdi ogg oggvorbis openexr opengl oss pam pc pcap pci pcmcia pcre pda pdflib perl pic plotutils plugins png pnp portaudio povray ppds profile python quicktime quotes rdesktop readline real samba scanner screen sdl slp sms smux sndfile snmp speex spell sse sse2 ssl stream svg svga sysfs szip tcltk tcpd tetex theora tidy tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts unicode usb userlocales v4l vcd vidix vlm vorbis wifi win32codecs wmf wxwindows xine xml xml2 xmms xosd xprint xscreensaver xv xvid xvmc zlib linguas_en_US userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS
spyderous: I think glut should belong to one of the X11 herds most probably, but you can probably make the best suggestions, I've got some old GLUT code I wrote ~6 years ago that I'd like to get working again.
Try freeglut instead, it's a truly open-source replacement.
freeglut doesn't provide libmui, and also doesn't have the manpages. afaik libmui is only distributed with the old standalone glut-3.7.tar.gz, and not the MesaLib/MesaDemos tarballs.
spyderous: ping
Robin, please do whatever you want to with glut to get it working as you want it working.
Please fix or WONTFIX this, been rotting for long enough. Thanks.
media-libs/glut is gone.
