Ok the ebuild was reviewed and added to the PHP overlay [1].
It will be added to Portage itself with the next "wave" of updated ebuilds and
php-libs/extensions, that should come probably at the end of the week.

Please, test the overlay ebuilds meanwhile and report back if any bugs are found ;)
