Description simon 2005-09-10 14:20:56 UTC
Large logfiles are a common problem. I always forget to install logrotate for
this purpose and probably others do. I think, the package logrotate should be
installed by default on a gentoo-linux installation.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. install gentoo
2. forget to emerge app-admin/logrotate
3. wait for large logfiles

Actual Results:
logfiles become bigger and bigger

By default I actually mean, it should be added to the documentation in the
section of "system tools"

Umm, doesn't the chapter you linked already say:
"If you plan on using sysklogd or syslog-ng you might want to install logrotate
afterwards as those system loggers don't provide any rotation mechanism for the
log files."

Sorry, I must have missed that sentence.
