what is the almost in (almost)? Is it a reference to bug #105267 and bug #105278 ?
yes. additionally, it depends on bug 89644 if you USE="crypt".

Good point, I'll give it another try. But gentoo-osx has undergone major reengineering and is still under active development. In particular, it is no longer / not yet part of mainline gentoo, so we should close this bug anyway, I guess.
