Description Alexander Papaspyrou 2002-11-10 07:46:54 UTC
The emerge of the apps-i18n/kde-i18n-de-3.0.4 package fails.

During unpack(), a failure occurs when trying to unpack the patch file (kde-
i18n-gentoo.patch):

"unpack kde-i18n-gentoo.patch: file format not recognized"

This is clear, as the patch file is not packed at all.

The unpack() function in "/usr/lib/portage/bin/ebuild.sh" is working on a
directory base, and not on specified files. As such, it will always fail
whenever the source tarball and an (unpacked) patch file reside in the same
directory.

Hence, the patch file should be distributed packed, such as "kde-i18n-
gentoo.patch.bz2" or so.

A temporary workaround is to comment out line 37
in "/usr/lib/portage/bin/ebuild.sh" for the installation of this single
package. After successful merging, uncomment this line again.
