www-apache/mod_dav_svn makes no sense to keep when dev-util/subversion already comes with it, I agree. mask for www-apps/mediawiki-1.3.8: gets removed ASAP I'm on my box. regarding the masks for: =net-www/mod_auth_mysql-20030510 (<-- still exists) =net-www/mod_auth_mysql-20030510-r1 =net-www/mod_auth_mysql-20030510-r2 Well, hollow removed them w/o cleanup up the p.mask; I can do so ASAP I am back on my box.
done; unexpectly faster than I thought ;)
removed dbh from p.mask
Removed xeasyconf from portage.
mysql-4.0.24-r2 - fixed progsreiserfs - not fixing. this exists to prevent old installs from causing problems, and should continue to exist for a while longer - i've gotten some bugs via email with people running into it still. nss_ldap-233 - fixed
Everything in your list comment #0 with solar@g has been removed from p.mask
My items zapped.
Ditto.
corrected
# Aaron Walker <ka0ttic@gentoo.org> (18 Mar 2005) # buffer overflows galore; pending removal. x11-terms/tilda (stuart: can we remove this?) Removed (I am the maintainer now as well) - new upstream version committed to cvs earlier.
removed gphoto and qce-ga
my entry (dyndnsupdate) kindly removed for me by marienz.
removed my entries
The mentioned security related packages I masked are removed.
Maybe someone ought to rerun the scrip, or simply close this bug ?
cardoe/QA: could you please update the list and see if this bug needs to stay open?
Well, a while back I went through package.mask using a script I wrote and removed a bunch of useless masks. See this mailing list thread for more information: http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.gentoo.devel/43477 Anyhow, I just went through another round of that, and according to my script, these are the only useless masks remaining: =media-libs/faad2-2.5 =app-crypt/mhash-0.9.7.1 sys-libs/libspe >=dev-perl/AxKit-1.7 >=sys-apps/dbus-core-0.92 >=dev-db/mysql-5.1

As much as I hate web-appy things it may be nicer to just script the entire thing (as far as notifcation, not removal).
MySQL masks are ok, the 5.1 mask must stay there since we're experimenting with it atm. Best regards, CHTEKK.
Remove CC, sorry for the noise. Best regards, CHTEKK.

This bug is done?
With the recent junk cleanup session, it should, pretty much... until more stale stuff gets stuck there. :)
is this list valid anymore? if not request for closing
Created attachment 176788 [details] Invalid package.mask entries here's an updated version of the list
CCing everyone mentioned on the list
Got mine, thanks.
Ricardo (ricmm), as the nVidia driver maintainer, please feel free to take out the masks with my name on them if they are no longer relevant.
My entry has been removed
Fixed
Removed mine. Please use a new bug next time for less confusion.
Removed mine as well
Removed mine, sincerely I'd love if next time you just killed them, I'm not territorial about them (alsa-lib is not even something I maintain nowadays).

I've removed mine (gstreamer mess which should have been in overlay in the first place)
http://dev.gentooexperimental.org/~idl0r/obsolete_package.mask.txt That might be useful, its autogenerated once per day.
"All done." for now. I left some things like gcc for hardened, FreeBSD stuff since aballier is (iirc) preparing new stages, and similar not-so-invalid entries.
Now it's really done. Nothing unnecessary is left.
