phing still depends on dev-php/php-5, but php is now dev-lang/php 
 
# emerge --update --deep world -av --newuse 
 
These are the packages that I would merge, in order: 
 
Calculating world dependencies - 
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy ">=dev-php/php-5.0.0".
