I decided to use Stage 1 while installing CD and now I am stuck because only
stage 2 and 3 are on the mirror.

Stage 1 is in
http://mirror.switch.ch/ftp/mirror/gentoo/releases/x86/current/stages/x86/

There are no i686/athlon-xp/whatever stages1 out there because it's pointless.

Then I suggest for it to be explained in the gentoo installation guide. It's
said one should visit the mirrors but it's not said into which directories
one should go. When I go into the one which seem intuitive to me, it's wrong.
