an ebuild for operation napali, an singleplayer mod for ut. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Created attachment 67484 [details, diff] operation_napali-1.30.ebuild please don't blame me for mistakes, it's my third ebuild, worked for me.
Created attachment 67485 [details] metadata.xml the metadata.xml file, left the maintainer fields blank.
Created attachment 88165 [details] unreal-tournament-op-napali-1.30.ebuild Here is a working ebuild for this great mod.
(In reply to comment #3) > Here is a working ebuild for this great mod. Nice, but didn't mine work too?
(In reply to comment #4) > Nice, but didn't mine work too? It died on "could not unpack Operation Na Pali.umod". "olextras.u" doesn't get moved to the System directory. RDEPEND isn't modular X-friendly.
I marked mine depreciated and thanks for your better ebuild.
Just a small question: Before an ebuild can get in the Sunrise Overlay, its bug report has to be assigned to maintainer-wanted@gentoo.org. Can I change this (when yes, how?) or does a dev has to do this?
No, it's assigned properly as it is now.
(In reply to comment #8) > No, it's assigned properly as it is now. You mean I can check it into Sunrise even though it is assigned to games@gentoo.org (ignore http://gentoo-sunrise.org/cgi-bin/trac.cgi/wiki/HowToCommit)? That would be even better.
While we have no control over the Sunrise overlay, if you want it to ever end up in the portage tree, you need to update the ebuild in this bug. We don't support ebuilds from unofficial sources.
But the idea of sunrise is not to replace portage, but to bridge the time between writing of the ebuild and inclusion in portage, isn't it? So the bug would be updated here (in bugzilla) too. And when the ebuild got into portage, it would be removed from sunrise. Do I missunderstand something?
As long as the ebuild is updated here, you can do whatever you want with it outside of Gentoo's infrastructure. ;] Sinrise is not an official project. I has no actual ties with Gentoo at this time, other than being run by some Gentoo developers. It also does nothing for improving the situation for getting things included into portage. All games packages that go through Sunrise still require a games team developer to test it and commit it, as well as continue to maintain it, just like it would if you didn't use Sunrise. The only advantage you get from putting an ebuild in Sunrise is making it easily available for people using the overlay. There is no advantage to Gentoo's portage tree with this. I'm not trying to discourage you from putting this package in Sunrise, I am just trying to make sure that you understand that it won't magically make it end up in the tree faster or anything. This is especially true for ut* mods, since I'm working on an eclass for mods that will require changes to the ebuilds anyway, which is the primary reason why I am holding off on adding *any* new games mods into the tree at this time.
I think I am sure about that. I just think that sunrise would be a nice place to make the ebuilds available until a mainainer is found and the ebuilds actually get into portage. And hey, the eclass thing sounds great! Please make sure to let me know when this is done.
I put this ebuild in SunRise, (link http://gentoo-sunrise.org/cgi-bin/trac.cgi/browser/reviewed/games-fps/unreal-tournament-operationnapali). But I will keep on updating here too.
Hello, everyone. It seems that at least one ebuild related to this bug exists in the Sunrise overlay at the moment. However, I have to regretfully announce that after a long inactivity period the Sunrise project has been discontinued and the related overlay will be eventually removed. For this reason, I'd like to ask you to reevaluate the ebuilds and consider moving them. If you'd like to maintain a package from Sunrise in Gentoo, please take a look at our Proxy Maintainers [1] project. Please make sure to take ebuilds from the unreviewed developer Sunrise repository [2] rather than the -reviewed one, since the latter has not been updated for over a year. While at it, please note that: 1. Adding a package to Gentoo requires declaring yourself as an active maintainer for it. All bugs regarding the package will be assigned to you, and you will be expected to maintain it. 2. Some packages may not be suitable for addition anymore. While there's no strong rules that would prevent you from adding a package, it may be a bad idea to add old-unmaintained packages that will shortly result in a large number of bugs reported with no solution. If that is the case, please close the bug as RESOLVED/OBSOLETE to make it easier to find packages worth adding. 3. Some of the bugs were already closed as WONTFIX/OBSOLETE/... while the relevant ebuild was kept in Sunrise. If you disagree with the original decision, you still can add the ebuild via proxy-maint. 4. Pleaes note that many of the Sunrise ebuilds are old and may be buggy. If you decide to move them, please make sure to update/clean them up. The proxy-maint team will also review your ebuilds, therefore making sure they land in Gentoo in good quality. Once again, thank you for your contribution. We hope that you will still want to contribute to Gentoo, through proxy-maint or otherwise.
