Description Tommy McDaniel 2005-09-01 23:16:54 UTC
In copying and pasting stuff for other bugs, I have found that Konsole doesn't
allow the cursor to be moved outside of its white text area while highlighting
text. For example, while trying to copy the massive GDB output in this bug,
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104551, it was hard to do, because when
I moved the cursor past the bottom of the bottom line, the cursor would
immediately shoot back up. From some messing around with my Konsole here, it
seems that it is impossible to move the cursor beyond any of the four sides
when you are holding the left mouse button down. As mentioned, this makes it a
pain to copy large amounts of text.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Make sure there's a lot of text in your Konsole window, so that some of it
scrolls up past the top of the text area.
2. Scroll up to the beginning and try to copy everything by dragging the mouse
down
3. Note how Konsole keeps putting the cursor back inside its window, and you
have to keep wiggling and messing around with the mouse to be able to continue
highlighting stuff farther down

Actual Results:
Konsole kept moving my mouse back into its window.

Expected Results:
Let me move the cursor outside of its window.

My processors are dual Opterons, should that matter.

The Konsole maintainers probably need to know about your wishlist item -> bugs.kde.org
Comment 2 Tommy McDaniel 2005-09-19 22:19:06 UTC
Does that mean I should personally file this there?

Yes, this is the right thing to do.
