Description Thomas Kuehling 2005-08-22 02:17:11 UTC
After i upgraded my kde to kde-3.4, i am not able to start ksysguardd. After i
start it i'll get a segmentation fault:

dreamland ~ # ksysguardd
ksysguardd 1.2.0
(c) 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 Chris Schlaeger <cs@kde.org> and
(c) 2001 Tobias Koenig <tokoe@kde.org>
This program is part of the KDE Project and licensed under
the GNU GPL version 2. See http://www.kde.org for details.
Segmentation fault

Thanks for helping and regards
Thomas Kuehling

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
After a strace i think that the problem is, that ksysguard wants to use /dev/apm
wich doesn't exist because i have no support for apm in my kernel:

open("/proc/apm", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
open("/proc/acpi/battery", O_RDONLY|O_NONBLOCK|O_LARGEFILE|O_DIRECTORY) = 3
fstat64(3, {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0555, st_size=0, ...}) = 0
fcntl64(3, F_SETFD, FD_CLOEXEC) = 0
getdents64(3, /* 4 entries */, 1024) = 96
--- SIGSEGV (Segmentation fault) @ 0 (0) ---
+++ killed by SIGSEGV +++

Perhaps it could be something other then apm, i don't really know.

This is my packages.keywords to see, wich packages i upgraded:

Comment 2 Caleb Tennis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-09-18 07:55:44 UTC
Seems odd. You'll probably want to report this at bugs.kde.org so the ksysguard maintainers can have a
good.
Comment 3 Avuton Olrich 2006-01-15 05:41:09 UTC
Is this still happening in latest stable?
Comment 4 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-04-17 10:25:50 UTC
Please drop a line, if you still have the problem with >=ksysguard-3.5.2-r1
