One note - there's no need to RDEPEND on virtual/libc.

I've found an ebuild to emerge GAIM CVS
(http://plue.uni.cc/portage/net-im/gaim-cvs/), and I've seen that also GAIM (the
2.0 version) require it.

There will never be a package for gaim-cvs in portage.  It will cause more
problems from naive users than I can possibly imagine.

OK, I didn't ask it :) BTW I can understand you position, I think the same,
because many users don't think :)

My comment was just to inform you that this package is also required also from
the current Gaim code, no requests :) Just an affermation.

No use for this; we have media-libs/jasper for stuff that's in the tree.
