It seems that the ebuild requires AGP while the driver also supports PCI-express cards.... So I get warnings that aren't accurate and I don't know if everything is being built. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.emerge ati-drivers 2. 3. Actual Results: * Determining the location of the kernel source code * Found kernel source directory: * /usr/src/linux * Found sources for kernel version: * 2.6.12-gentoo-r9 * Checking for MTRR support enabled ... [ ok ] * Checking for AGP support enabled ... [ !! ] * You don't have AGP support enabled, the direct rendering * will not work. * Checking for DRM support disabled ... I'll change the phrasing soon
Just wanted to add that I am also using the new ati-drivers-8.16.20-r1 driver with a PCI-Express laptop card (X700) and it works far better than the previous driver did. This is on amd64 - it would be nice to get this into ~amd64 soon as it seems to work well for the majority of users.
sadly the .20 works JUST on igp based systems. Standard daughterboard got the modeline logic messed up
fixed
