Description Patrizio Bassi 2005-08-18 04:51:41 UTC
looking for some voip-sip sw i found:
in the open source development site http://www.sipfoundry.org

http://www.sipfoundry.org/sipX/downloads.html

that's sipXphone sip-voip client

ebuild pretty ready here:
http://sipx-wiki.calivia.com/index.php/SIPfoundry.org_sipXphone_Ebuild_for_Gentoo_Linux

can you include it in portage?
Comment 1 Joshua Jackson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-08-18 13:16:23 UTC
Ebuilds could use a bit of work before they were to be added, and honestly, I
think this is something that would have to be taken up with the apache core
members. Since as stated on the sipfoundry site, the default apache install for
gentoo doesn't have the patches needed to run sip.

Also noting some differences in the ebuild that violate a whole segment of the
gentoo portage system is a bit of a bad idea. They remove the selinux flag and
instead replace it with a selinux? (sec-policy/selinux-apache). Which as any of
the herd will tell you is a no no. I'd probably talk to upstream a bit about the
reasons for it. (doing so in fact now). See what they have to say.

however i simply asked for the client, and not the server too.

actually a tar xzf file.tar.gz && ./executable works :P

however i think you coudl create a whole "net-voip" category

closing as no progress and no interest in binaries blobs
