I already have a running vserver working fine. I created a new vserver, copied the files over into the new base directory. Starting it gives: root # vserver base start vcontext: vc_xidopt2xid("base"): Invalid argument An error occured while executing the vserver startup sequence; when there are no other messages, it is very likely that the init-script (/sbin/init) failed. Common causes are: * /etc/rc.d/rc on Fedora Core 1 and RH9 fails always; the 'apt-rpm' build method knows how to deal with this, but on existing installations, appending 'true' to this file will help. Failed to start vserver 'base' (I obviously changed the name, dir, IP address, etc). # qpkg -I -v vserver sys-kernel/vserver-sources-1.9.5 * sys-cluster/util-vserver-0.30.205-r1 * # Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual Results: Failed to start vserver 'base' Expected Results: Started, like my other vserver. # emerge info Portage 2.0.51.19 (default-linux/x86/2005.0, gcc-3.3.4, glibc-2.3.4.20040808-r1, 2.6.11.6-grsec-vs1.9.5 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.11.6-grsec-vs1.9.5 i686 Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 2.80GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.4.16 Python: dev-lang/python-2.3.4-r1 [2.3.4 (#1, Mar 15 2005, 16:32:29)] dev-lang/python: 2.3.4-r1 sys-apps/sandbox: [Not Present] sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.5, 1.8.5-r3, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.4_p6, 1.9.4 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r10 sys-devel/libtool: 1.4.3-r4 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium4 -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/share/config /var/bind /var/qmail/alias /var/qmail/control /var/vpopmail/domains /var/vpopmail/etc" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium4 -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.blueyonder.co.uk" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.europe.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 acl alsa apache2 berkdb crypt eds emboss gd gd-external gdbm gif gmp gstreamer hardenedphp innodb ipv6 jpeg libg++ libwww memlimit mp3 mysql ncurses nls ogg pdflib perl php png postgres readline ssl tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts vorbis xml2 zlib userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CBUILD, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY
@vserver herd: Please, could you put some actually existing bugzie alias into metadata.xml? Thanks.
I'm a twonk. I had a non-numeric value in /etc/vservers/XXX/context.
