MySQL-5.0.11-beta has been relased 06 Aug 2005. Some issues affect this release when installing on a gentoo system (tested on x86 only). Most of the problems seems gone in the nightly builds provided by MySQL AB. Compile time: - "tcpd" use flag broke the build (the configure option is --with-libwrap) Run time: - if compiled without geometry use flag the "view" test fail (already solved) . - "init_connect" test fail too. The suffered decision I've chosed is to leave this version out of the tree, and wait for the next one. If you are very interested in having it post comments here. As always ready to go patches are welcome.
5.0.12_beta seems to work acceptably well*, so this bug seems obsolete. * = I had some crashing problems for awhile, until I rebuild with USE=debug and FEATURES=nostrip and since then, it's refused to die.
Forgot to close this one. thanks Andy, MySQL compiled with all the debug stuff is rather slow, so it's not an option ;) Anyway USE=debug , FEATURES=nostrip trick is something useful to know and try if something goes wrong again. Last but not least is always useful know when something goes well like for 5.0.12 and it's not only a lucky planet allignament over my test box. Cheers, Francesco
