Created attachment 67090 [details] emerge log Log of the failing "emerge esound"
Hi all, I had the same problem and found at least for me a solution: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-2689903.html#2689903 So try to re-emerge app-text/docbook-sgml-utils and see if this helps ... Best regards Stefan
That worked for me. In the process app-text/docbook-sgml-utils got upgraded from 0.6.12-r2 to 0.6.14 for me.
(In reply to comment #7) > That worked for me. In the process app-text/docbook-sgml-utils got upgraded from > 0.6.12-r2 to 0.6.14 for me. That did NOT work for me, at least at first. Emerge of docbook-sgml-tools failed with the same thing esound did: a jade error complaining that libosp.so.3 was missing. I found /usr/lib/libosp.so.4, but no 3. Tried remerging opensp, which made no difference. Then remerged openjade, which allowed me to successfully emerge docbook-sgml-utils, which allowed me to successfully emerge esound. At the very least, there's a dependency missing for esound for docbook-sgml-utils. There might be more up the chain that caused something to get ignored when it shouldn't have.
Ulrich, Could you please try to compile esound manually, and then produce a backtrace from the process that is segfaulting? Evorybody else, Please note that none of the problems you have mentioned reflect the same problem that the one in this report. Please search for other bugs that match the problem you see.
I'd love to, but the host this happens on is currently offline, and I probably can't get to it over the weekend. Sorry about that, none of the other hosts in the house has that particular problem.
This packages need to have BOTH app-text/openjade and app-text/docbook-sgml-utils added to DEPEND. make[2]: Entering directory `/var/tmp/portage/esound-0.2.36-r1/work/esound-0.2.36/docs' jw -f docbook -b html -o html ./esound.sgml Using catalogs: /etc/sgml/sgml-docbook-3.1.cat Using stylesheet: /usr/share/sgml/docbook/utils-0.6.12/docbook-utils.dsl#html Working on: /var/tmp/portage/esound-0.2.36-r1/work/esound-0.2.36/docs/./esound.sgml jade: error while loading shared libraries: libosp.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory make[2]: *** [html/index.html] Error 8 make[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/esound-0.2.36-r1/work/esound-0.2.36/docs' make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/esound-0.2.36-r1/work/esound-0.2.36' make: *** [all] Error 2 !!! FYI, despite the libosp error re-emerging openjade resolves the issue.

for me, "emerge openjade" again did made it feasible to emerge esound. thank you, guys. /iaw

Fixed re-emerging openjade
