Are you installing a fresh system? Which media and stage did you use?
Comment 2 Phillip Fenstermacher 2005-08-14 06:28:36 UTC
It was a fresh install on an IBM T21. I used a stage1 install downloaded from a
mirror during the install.
Comment 3 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-08-14 06:39:21 UTC
You forgot to reopen.
Comment 4 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-08-15 06:47:44 UTC
So this was during what stage of the installation?
Comment 5 Phillip Fenstermacher 2005-08-15 07:13:56 UTC
I was using the graphical installer, using a Stage1 install. The install ran
fine, partition, etc. I wasn't following along the entire process as it was
going to take a long time so I don't know exactly what portion it occured in. I
changed to a different stage tarball mirror and I recieved the same error,
however on a different file. Mismatched md5 hashes perhaps?
Comment 6 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-08-15 11:14:03 UTC
What if you try without the installer?

I need to determine if this is a bug with the installer or the release media.
Comment 7 Phillip Fenstermacher 2005-08-15 12:13:08 UTC
I'll give that a try, but when I use a different tarball URI it gives me the
same error, but on a different file.
Comment 8 Andrew Gaffney (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-03 16:15:07 UTC
We need the lines before the one you posted from /tmp/compile_output.log
immediately after the failure. That doesn't indicate a MD5 check failure. When
capturing emerge output, the MD5 check is at the end of each package for some
weird reason. Chances are just that your compile failed.
Comment 9 Andrew Gaffney (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-10 05:23:43 UTC
Closing due to apparent disappearance of reporter and the fact that it's
probably not an installer bug.
Comment 10 Jeffrey Forman (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-03-24 13:46:31 UTC
Moving to Release Media/Installer.
