If you kill all instances of esd, then revisit the web page, the browser does not hang. I'm also running the following packages: media-libs/alsa-lib-1.0.9 media-libs/alsa-oss-1.0.9 media-plugins/alsa-jack-1.0.9 media-plugins/gst-plugins-alsa-0.8.10 media-plugins/xmms-alsa-1.2.10-r3 media-sound/alsa-driver-1.0.9b media-sound/alsa-headers-1.0.9b media-sound/alsa-utils-1.0.9a media-sound/gnome-alsamixer-0.9.6
Happens for me too. killing esd resolved the issue as well. Thanks, Fadi.
This happens to me too, regardless of using mozilla-firefox or mozilla-firefox-bin.
