I wrote an ebuild script based on x11-themes/silver-xcursors for the X11 cursor theme "Pinux's Tux Cursors Theme" and named it x11-themes/pinuxtux-xcursors Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.

Created attachment 66291 [details] Improved ebuild script Suggestions implemented, but the problem with the apostrophe in the filename remains.
Suggestions have been integrated into the new ebuild script. However, there is still one problem: The cursor set's filename contains an apostrophe and causes therefore problems during installation. If the apostrophe *is not* escaped with a backslash the file cannot be downloaded, but installs cleanly if available in /usr/portage/distfiles. If the apostrophe *is* escaped, the download is working, but hashing or extraction fails. How can this be fixed?
The use of an apostrophe seems to no longer be a problem, but the ebuild must be revamped now, because some things have changed, like the URL. I would also recommend to name the ebuild "pinux-tux-xcursors". That way it would be easier to distinguish it from other possible ebuilds, like "pinux-lila-xcursors".
(this is an automated message based on filtering criteria that matched this bug) 'EBUILD' is in the KEYWORDS which should mean that there is a ebuild attached to this bug. This bug is assigned to maintainer-wanted which means that it is not in the main tree. Heuristics show that no Gentoo developer has commented on your ebuild. Hello, The Gentoo Team would like to firstly thank you for your ebuild submission. We also apologize for not being able to accommodate you in a timely manner. There are simply too many new packages. Allow me to use this opportunity to introduce you to Gentoo Sunrise. The sunrise overlay[1] is a overlay for Gentoo which we allow trusted users to commit to and all users can have ebuilds reviewed by Gentoo devs for entry into the overlay. So, the sunrise team is suggesting that you look into this and submit your ebuild to the overlay where even *you* can commit to. =) Because this is a mass message, we are also asking you to be patient with us. We anticipate a large number of requests in a short time. Thanks, On behalf of the Gentoo Sunrise Team, Jeremy. Whoever is maintaining this in sunrise, could you add ~amd64 keyword to the ebuild? I've verified that it works on amd64.
(In reply to comment #7) > Whoever is maintaining this in sunrise, could you add ~amd64 keyword to the > ebuild? I've verified that it works on amd64. The x11-themes/pinux-tux-xcursors ebuild in the sunrise overlay as been upgraded to 0.3-r1 which includes the ~amd64 keyword.

Hello, is this theme gone from sunrise? Thank you.
(In reply to comment #10) > Hello, is this theme gone from sunrise? Thank you. This seems to make sense but not in the context of this bug since pinux tux cursors work under kde 4.6 (confirmed). I'll have to ask on #gentoo-sunrise if they can reinstate this package. r9568 | scarabeus | 2009-11-20 15:54:55 -0500 (Fri, 20 Nov 2009) | 1 line Changed paths: D /sunrise/app-dicts/ktranslator D /sunrise/app-portage/kuroo D /sunrise/app-portage/kuroolito D /sunrise/dev-embedded/kontrollerlab D /sunrise/dev-util/ktigcc D /sunrise/kde-misc/autostart D /sunrise/kde-misc/diskmonitor D /sunrise/kde-misc/kcpufreq D /sunrise/kde-misc/kio-sysinfo D /sunrise/kde-misc/klogwatch D /sunrise/kde-misc/kndiswrapper D /sunrise/kde-misc/kommando D /sunrise/kde-misc/ksshagent D /sunrise/kde-misc/ksshaskpass D /sunrise/kde-misc/webissues D /sunrise/media-plugins/k3bmonkeyaudioplugin D /sunrise/media-video/screenkast D /sunrise/net-misc/netgo_ng D /sunrise/www-client/khtml2png D /sunrise/x11-misc/kxstitch D /sunrise/x11-themes/ia_ora-kde D /sunrise/x11-themes/kde-icons-dark-glass D /sunrise/x11-themes/kwin-decor-suse2 D /sunrise/x11-themes/mandriva-galaxy D /sunrise/x11-themes/pinux-tux-xcursors D /sunrise/x11-themes/qindustrial-therp Drop all packages using only kde3, add cc for kde team to those that provide kde4 verisons.
(In reply to comment #10) > Hello, is this theme gone from sunrise? Thank you. I have reworked the ebuild and committed it. When it gets reviewed again, it will be available in sunrise again.
(In reply to comment #12) > I have reworked the ebuild and committed it. When it gets reviewed again, it > will be available in sunrise again. Damn, wasn't quick enough to answer first ;-) Though, have problems with the new KMail+Akonadi. Tip: wait 1–2 years until it gets stable :-P
Hello, everyone. It seems that at least one ebuild related to this bug exists in the Sunrise overlay at the moment. However, I have to regretfully announce that after a long inactivity period the Sunrise project has been discontinued and the related overlay will be eventually removed. For this reason, I'd like to ask you to reevaluate the ebuilds and consider moving them. If you'd like to maintain a package from Sunrise in Gentoo, please take a look at our Proxy Maintainers [1] project. Please make sure to take ebuilds from the unreviewed developer Sunrise repository [2] rather than the -reviewed one, since the latter has not been updated for over a year. While at it, please note that: 1. Adding a package to Gentoo requires declaring yourself as an active maintainer for it. All bugs regarding the package will be assigned to you, and you will be expected to maintain it. 2. Some packages may not be suitable for addition anymore. While there's no strong rules that would prevent you from adding a package, it may be a bad idea to add old-unmaintained packages that will shortly result in a large number of bugs reported with no solution. If that is the case, please close the bug as RESOLVED/OBSOLETE to make it easier to find packages worth adding. 3. Some of the bugs were already closed as WONTFIX/OBSOLETE/... while the relevant ebuild was kept in Sunrise. If you disagree with the original decision, you still can add the ebuild via proxy-maint. 4. Pleaes note that many of the Sunrise ebuilds are old and may be buggy. If you decide to move them, please make sure to update/clean them up. The proxy-maint team will also review your ebuilds, therefore making sure they land in Gentoo in good quality. Once again, thank you for your contribution. We hope that you will still want to contribute to Gentoo, through proxy-maint or otherwise. This ticket could probably be closed since the url doesn't point anywhere and the package doesn't appear to exist anymore.
