Comment 1 Marcello Maggioni 2005-08-12 01:41:05 UTC
During the livecd's booting the network is not configured correctly. I have 2
eth devices and my ADSL router Zyxel Prestige 650R-31 is plugged on the 1° eth
device (eth0) during the boot the system gets up eth1 without giving it an IP
address and ignores completely eth0 . (sometimes the system succeeds in setting
up eth0 , but continues to get up eth1 which hasn't devices plugged on it . ).
Running net-setup eth0 or dhcpcd eth0 works .

The audio controller (Via Vinyl AC97) is correcly detected but the messages on
the screes say that it can't load the module because is not present.

2005.0 always worked fine

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Plug the Zyxel Router on the first (Mobo Integrated) eth device
2. Load the livecd
3. Watch if the network/audio device is correctly configurated or not

Actual Results:
Audio and network devices aren't correctly configured

Expected Results:
They should have been configured automagically

Which CD is this happening on?
Comment 3 Marcello Maggioni 2005-08-14 07:48:32 UTC
You mean version of the live CD?

minimal and universal 2005.1 official disks.

The strange thing is that 2005.0 always worked perfectly.
Comment 4 roger55 (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-08-14 14:29:53 UTC
let's just leave out the alsa issue as that is merely started unwantedly (we
don't need sound to install gentoo).

what are your 2 network cards?
lspci -v

and what modules are loaded?
lsmod

Thanks.

Comment 6 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-03 07:38:57 UTC
Audio is known to not work, since we don't install any audio drivers. Of
course, the system will still detect the audio devices, since it knows about them.

It is a bit hard to tell from your messages here, but which card is the ADSL
modem plugged into, the Realtek or the Via?
Comment 7 Marcello Maggioni 2005-11-05 03:46:52 UTC
The VIA one.

Bye

Marcello

Can you please test the 2005.1-r1 CD that was just released?
Comment 9 Marcello Maggioni 2005-11-28 12:30:42 UTC
I'll give it a try as soon as I can and then I'll let you know :)
Comment 10 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-03-14 12:47:13 UTC
I've gotten no response and we've had 2 media releases since this was reported. I'm going to assume that this means it has been resolved. If there's still a problem with 2006.0, then feel free to REOPEN this bug.
