Description Stefan Behte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev Security 2005-08-10 04:01:53 UTC
My problem:
I am starting xorg-x11-6.8.2-r2 / fluxbox-0.9.13-r1. When quitting X, the
console does not show up again. The screen is just blank. If I login via SSH and
"startx", X starts fine again and works. I can even change to a normal console
via ctrl-alt-f2 from within X, but if I exit X, the screens turns black.

Well - it says /usr/lib/modules/libvbe.a is unresolved, but I don't know how to
fix that...I already searched the forums but couldn't fix this error.

My problem:
After quitting fluxbox/xorg-x11-6.8.2-r2, the console does not show up again.
The screen is just blank. If I login via SSH and startx, X starts fine again and
works. I can even change to a normal console via ctrl-alt-f2. But if I quit X,
the screens turns black.

Well it says /usr/lib/modules/libvbe.a is unresolved, but I don't know how to
fix that...I already searched the forums but
couldn't fix this error.

Try building xorg with USE=dlloader.
Comment 3 Stefan Behte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev Security 2005-08-12 09:16:59 UTC
Ok, trying right now...I hope this will work, because compiling takes AGES on
the k6...

You might like to install ccache, if it's not.
Comment 5 Stefan Behte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev Security 2005-08-13 02:31:01 UTC
It works perfectly now :)
Thank you very much.
Also thanks for the tip with ccache, but the laptops harddisk is very small and
there is not much space left; if I have to compile a long time, I usually remove
the harddisk from my laptop and use it with an USB Adapter with my Athlon XP
2600, but at the moment my girlfriend is here and I prefered to wait ;)
I never heard of "dlloader"... strange... I'll seek for information later.
