yencode (http://www.yencode.org) is a utility for encoding/decoding binaries for
posting to Usenet, in much the same way as uuencoding or base64. As it offers a
30% reduction in size for encoded files compared to base64/uuencode it is
quickly becoming the standard for posting binaries to Usenet.

Support for yEnc is being incorporated into most newsreaders (Pan support is
right around the corner), but a command-line utility could still be of some use.

As this is already in portage, as net-news/yencode-0.46.ebuild this bug should
be closed.
