Not an mozilla issue, your using a cvs head which is package masked. I am sure if you downgrade back to the latest ~arch release 6.8.2-r2 I am sure you will not see the problme. I would suggest sending the issue upstream to X.org.
What's your freetype version? If you're on 2.1.10, try 2.1.9.
Downgrading freetype seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks.
There are known issues between >=xorg-x11-6.8.99 and freetype-2.1.10.
you can crash also current xorg-x11-6.8.2-r2 by displaying certain fonts when using freetype-2.1.10, even with xfontsel. It is an already registered freetype-2.1.10 bug, forgot the number and i.e. already patched in freebsd
There are two upstream bugs for this: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4721 and https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3922.
This fix should now be in modular (7.0).
Marking fixed.
