Description Hagai Kariti 2005-08-07 08:30:22 UTC
I start gaim, and i see a blank square in the tray, and I get this error:
(gaim:31836): Bonobo-Activation-CRITICAL **: bonobo_activation_query: assertion
`ac != NULL' failed
Gaim has segfaulted and attempted to dump a core file.
This is a bug in the software and has happened through
no fault of your own.

It is possible that this bug is already fixed in CVS.
If you can reproduce the crash, please notify the gaim
maintainers by reporting a bug at
http://gaim.sourceforge.net/bug.php

Please make sure to specify what you were doing at the time,
and post the backtrace from the core file. If you do not know
how to get the backtrace, please get instructions at
http://gaim.sourceforge.net/gdb.php. If you need further
assistance, please IM either SeanEgn or LSchiere and
they can help you.

Dunno what happened, it worked fine until like 10 mins ago...
And the weirdest thing is, that if I run it with GDB, it works!

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge =gaim-1.4.0-r2
2. start gaim
3. watch it break

Actual Results:
gaim segfaulted

Expected Results:
gaim running

Need a backtrace. See http://gaim.sf.net/gdb.php
Comment 2 Hagai Kariti 2005-08-24 11:31:34 UTC
Yeah that's a problem.. As I said, when I run it with GDB it works :|
Comment 3 Don Seiler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-08-24 11:33:37 UTC
Ugh sorry about that.

That bonobo-activation jazz is gnome-related.

You should be able to at least run gaim -d and redirect the output to a log
file. Feel free to attach said log file here.
Comment 4 Hagai Kariti 2005-08-24 12:33:46 UTC
Ok, this is weird.. I can't reproduce it anymore!
I remember that there had been a time when it came and went, and then it was all
the time, and now it's gone!
I'll update if it ever comes back.

Sounds good to me.
