This is probably an upstream problem, but the documentation that should help the user is 2-7 years outdated. How difficult would this be to get up-to-date? For example, documentation is provided for HTML 4.0 only, which is a standard that has been many years out of use. Documentation should be provided for HTML 4.01 and XHTML 1.0 (and probably XHTML 1.1). The CSS documentation only has CSS1 while 2.1 would be much more useful. Also, the PHP and MySQL manual snapshots could be more recent. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge kdewebdev Actual Results: No documentation on features of XHTML 1.0, CSS 2.1 and PHP 4.3. Expected Results: Be up to date! $ emerge info Portage 2.0.51.22-r2 (default-linux/x86/2005.0, gcc-3.4.4, glibc-2.3.5-r0, 2.6.12-nitro5 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.12-nitro5 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.70GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.6.13 dev-lang/python: 2.3.5, 2.4.1-r1 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.11 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.18-r1 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -pipe -march=pentium4 -fomit-frame-pointer -finline-functions -funit-at-a-time -funroll-loops -maccumulate-outgoing-args" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -pipe -march=pentium4 -fomit-frame-pointer -finline-functions -funit-at-a-time -funroll-loops -maccumulate-outgoing-args" DISTDIR="/home/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" LINGUAS="en nl el" PKGDIR="/home/distfiles/quickpkg" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/home/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/home/local-portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X a52 aac acpi alsa apache2 arts artswrappersuid audiofile avi bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts bmp cairo cdr crypt curl dv dvd dvdr eds emboss encode exif expat fam fastcgi fbcon ffmpeg flac foomaticdb fortran ftp gd gdbm gif glep glut gphoto2 gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 hal iconv image imagemagick imlib innodb javascript jpeg kde lcms libg++ libwww lm_sensors lua mad maildir matroska mikmod mime mixer mmx mng motif mozdevelop mozilla moznocompose moznoirc moznomail mozsvg mp3 mpeg mysql nas ncurses nls nptl nptlonly odbc offensive ogg oggvorbis openal opengl oss pam pdflib perl php pic pie png posix postgres ppds python qt quicktime readline real ruby sdl simplexml slang soap spell sql sqlite sse sse2 ssl subtitles subversion svg svga tabs tcltk tcpd theora tidy tiff transcode truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts unicode usb userlocales utf8 vcd vhosts vidix vorbis win32codecs xgetdefault xine xml xml2 xmlrpc xmms xpm xsl xv xvid zlib linguas_en linguas_nl linguas_el userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, MAKEOPTS
The best thing to do is to report this to bugs.kde.org. Once new snapshots for the documentation packages are provided here: http://quanta.kdewebdev.org/releases.php we can provide an updated ebuild for them.
