this seems to be a known bug, see kde #83352

(I will attach a patch that has fixed the problem for me) 
 

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. open a kdevelop project 
2. shut down the KDE session 
 
 
Actual Results:  
kdevelop hangs/crashes 

Expected Results:  
clean shutdown

Assuming this isn't a problem with the latest version, otherwise reopen please Sorry that no one has cared. Lack of helping hands...
