Description Scott 2005-08-04 17:19:35 UTC
I have seen from http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90236 that glibc 2.3.5
fails on i586 or less, but I am having the exact same problem with i686. I will
attach compiler error output in a second.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge -u system
2.
3.

Actual Results:
compilation error

Expected Results:
successful compilation

uhh the error you posted has nothing to do with Bug 90236

I think I found that bug report because both our errors had the line:

!!! Function toolchain-glibc_src_compile, Line 237, Exitcode 2

I am not intimately familiar with glibc though. I tried to do some
trouble-shooting, but apparently I was off-base.

Yeah, that's just bubbling up the error. The real problem is above that line.
Have you tried 2.3.5-r1 or 2.3.4.2005XXXX? Are you able to recompile
2.3.4.20041102-r1 without a problem?
Comment 5 Scott 2005-08-06 16:22:39 UTC
I just tried glibc-2.3.5-r1, and that compiled successfully.
Comment 6 Mark Loeser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-27 01:09:12 UTC
Looks like this issue is resolved with newer revisions of 2.3.5.
