Description Yosef Meller 2005-08-02 12:15:14 UTC
Right now users (espacially laptop users) have to choose between
hardened-sources ans swsusp2. None of the patches offered on the swsusp2 site
applies against hardened-sources-2.6.11-r15. I suggest that this patch be
incorporated to the hardened kernel.

Reproducible: Always

Please provide a URL to the files in question and a description of what the
patches do and how it helps security.
Comment 2 Yosef Meller 2005-08-02 22:45:20 UTC
URL: www.suspend2.net for the projecct, www.suspend2/downloads for the files.

The patches provide Software Suspend 2 (a supposedly better software suspend, as
most people wo tried it say). They seem to be popular especially among laptop
users. They are not directly security related; however, being unable to choose
both those (via the swsusp2-sources package) and the hardened kernel makes
hardened much less attractive when power saving is an issue.

Those patches aren't helping security (nor hardened) in any way, they just add the support for software-suspend 2. From my point of view, I don't see a reason to add this patch to the repo, as they don't provide any additional security feature.
