Sound card: m-audio audiophile 2496. Works perfectly in all sound programs, including xmms, xine, vlc, and mplayer for dvd's and sound on the hard disk. No streaming audio is heard even though mplayer recognizes the source (example: http://www.rainydawg.org/listen/high.m3u). In mplayer-1.0-pre5 entering the command: mplayer /dev/dtv 44.3 would open the hdtv channel for Fox New York with sound. Now video is perfect, but no sound. Streaming audio works perfectly for vlc. `/.mplayer/config shows ao=alsa:device=ice (ice is from ~/.asoundrc for the first sound card designated as: pcm:ice. Alternate command line entry of: -ao alsa:device=iec958 is also ineffective. If playing a dvd with the -ac hwac3 option, hwac3 is recognized. Not with streaming audio. USE flags as follows: From /etc/make.conf alsa audiofile bidi bzlib divx4linux dvb dvd dvdr encode exif fdftk fftw flac ftp gb gd ggi gps gstreamer gtkhtml imagemagick jack java lcms mozilla mysql nvidia openal oss pda pdflib perl php portaudio postgres ruby scanner sndfile sockets svg szip tcltk tetex theora tiff unicode usb videos wxwindows xine xinerama xml xpm xvid From /etc/portage/package.use specifically for mplayer -real -3dfx -matrox mmx sse mmxext 3dnow 3dnowext aalib alsa avi cdparanoia dvd dts dvdread gif png jpeg gtk libcaca live mad matroska mpeg network nv nvidia oggvorbis opengl v4l v4l2 X xv xvmc jack sdl xanim aac win32codecs ffmpeg doc Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.mplayer with either -ao alsa:device=ice or -ao alsa:device=iec958 -- both are recognized. Neither are required to play a sound file or dvd. 2.hdtv address with -ac hwac3 such as /dev/dtv 44.3 or streaming audio: http:(as above) 3. Sound settings in alsamixer and envy24control which work for on disk sound, do not work for streaming audio. Actual Results: Video (if hdtv) is perfect. No sound, No recognition of the hwac3 codec. Internet radio: appears to play, but no sound. Expected Results: Played audio as had been the case in mplayer-1.0-pre5
Bill, is this still an issue in newer versions of mplayer?
(In reply to comment #1) > Bill, is this still an issue in newer versions of mplayer? > This problem has cleared up. Now running 1.0.20060415 without problem
