I originally posted this to the forums to see if I was missing something obvious, but was advised to post on bugzilla, so here goes: It appears that /etc/devfsd.conf is missing from sys-apps/baselayout-1.11.13. This means fresh installations using 2.4 Kernel and devfs don't work as dev doesn't start up. At present we are unable to upgrade our installation base to use udev, but as far as I was aware the 2.4 Kernel and devfs are still supported in the 2005.0 profile. The way it is now: Code: # qpkg -I -v baselayout sys-apps/baselayout-1.11.13 * # qpkg -l baselayout | grep devfs The way it was: Code: #qpkg -I -v baselayout sys-apps/baselayout-1.9.4-r6 * # qpkg -l baselayout | grep devfs /etc/devfsd.conf My workaround is to get our installer to copy another /etc/devfsd.conf into place, but ideally it should be included in baselayout. Any ideas on why it isn't there? Cheers Dax Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. qpkg -I -v baselayout sys-apps/baselayout-1.11.13 * 2. qpkg -l baselayout | grep devfs 3. Actual Results: No /etc/devfsd.conf Expected Results: Should be a /etc/devfsd.conf Its easy enough to copy another /etc/devfsd.conf in place, but would be preferrable if it was included in baselayout.
devfsd.conf is part of the devfsd package
